Pilot Industries, a division of Ulster-Greene ARC, has received a multi-year grant from the NYS Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) to provide Highly specialized vocational training to people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities who face challenges to employment. The five year grant, in the amount of nearly $400,000, allows for intensive job training and supports to assure appropriate job placement and success. Mike Lamoree, Director of Life Services at the not-for-profit Ulster-Greene ARC, said that this grant will help several people who have long-desired to work but could not because of the challenges of their disabilities. "This grant offers them and us an opportunity to provide individual training and supports that can help them attain and keep employment. It's all about personal choice and helping people to become more independent."
